so long. Dr. Koay doesn't even believe in doing a CBC (complete blood count) unless she's aware of some kind of physical symptoms to warrant the test. That means that we must draw her attention to a potential problem or she must discover something
oversight. I wouldn't want that kind of burden on my shoulders as a doctor and I certainly wouldn't want my family's health riding on that level of Russian Roulette.
a person is ruled by so-called recommendations when commonsense dictates a "better safe than sorry" approach. As doctors, we need to be advocates for our patients and we need to do everything we can to look out for their best interests. I hope that one day Dr. Koay will reconsider her approach because she actually has some wonderful qualities (she takes a great patient history.) Sadly, she's very condescending and really seem to hear anyone else's concerns as a result of her own bias. I fear she is fated to miss something quite serious concerning one of her patients because she believes that she shouldn't do anything preventatively. Her response was that statistically and according to some medical organization's recommendations, we don't need breast exams. She only would do a breast exam if we'd felt something abnormal. In my opinion, that defies the definition of "Do no harm." What if her exam detected something that left undetected would eventually evolve into serious problem? I think it's very sad when
